High-Alpine summit hike, mostly on footpaths |

Good physical condition and orientation, basic knowledge of climbing |

Footpath type: |
Lower sections of the footpath are good and well marked. However, from the Kleinfleißkees glacier the footpath marking is sometimes poor as it climbs, via the Zechkopf, towards the Hocharn. |

Equipment: |
Rucksack, alpine boots with ankle support and a good-grip rubber sole, woollen or skiing socks, anorak with a hood (Goretex), waterproofs, cap, gloves, sun glasses (with high-quality UV protection), sun cream, lip protection, spare clothing, water bottle. Safety equipment will be provided by the mountain guide (crampons, harness, rope, etc.). |

Directions: |
Right from the Alter Pocher Alpine inn (1,800 m) set off on the well marked footpath, in direction of the Zirbensee Lake (ascent: 2 hrs.). Continue across rock and stone along the marked path to Hörnl. Walk along the left-hand rim of the glacier until you are below the Goldzechkopf, and then along the crest of the south-eastern ridge up to the summit of the Hocharn. |
