| Characteristics: |
Extremely rewarding summit, once known as the "3000m+ mountain for ladies". The footpath through the Dösen valley is uniquely beautiful because of its picturesque mountain lake - but it is also long. Consequently we recommend staying overnight at the "Schmidt House"! |
||
| Demands: | Not very difficult high-alpine walking; however very strenuous if attempted as a one day tour! | ||
| Ideal season: | July - September | ||

| How to get there:: |
Travel to Mallnitz |
||
| Starting place: | Dösen valley car park, about 1,450 m | ||
| Ascent: |
From the car park, past the Konradlacke pool (1,616 m), and by way of two distinctive scarps – between them lies the picturesque "Lackenboden" – to Arthur von Schmid House (2,275 m), on the shore of the Dösen lake. Continue along the footpath (no. 534) up to the glacier-formed plateau of the Seealm alpine pasture; and then skirt around the massive peak formation, to the pretty steep, boulder-strewn southern ridge that will lead you directly up to the prominent summit. |
||
| Descent: | As for the ascent. Or the BLOCK GLACIER OPTION: as you descend from the summit take the footpath in the direction of Mallnitzer Scharte. Follow the path (no. 533) down to the Dösen lake, across the scree-covered block glacier. | ||
