Travel to Heiligenblut
In Heiligenblut take the Grossglockner High-Alpine Road as far as the Glockner House Alpine Centre car park. |
| Starting place: |
The Glockner House Alpine Centre (2,132 m) |
| Ascent: |
From the Glockner House, take the Klagenfurter Jubiläumsweg footpath (no. 702) up to the Lower Pfandlscharte (2,663 m), and then follow the western ridge to the summit. The final stretch involves a short secured rope route. The HOCHTOR OPTION: starting from the summit of Spielmann, follow the wind-polished north-eastern ridge, as far as a point a short way below the Kloben (2,938 m). Keeping to the south of the main ridge, skirt around the fringes of the small glacier, as far as the Brennkogelscharte (2.634 m). Now proceed directly along the ridge again, to the Bretterscharte (2,601 m) and from there on the northern side to the Hochtor (2,575 m), on the Glockner Road. |
| Descent: |
As for the ascent. If returning from the Hochtor: by public transport (bus) back to the Glockner House. |
